2015 Met Gala Beauty Recap and Tutorial
Earlier this week, the internet exploded with creative beauty looks and outfits from the 2015 Met Gala. Check out our favs here!
This year’s theme, “China: Through The Looking Glass”, allowed many of our favorite celebrities to have fun with their oriental inspired beauty looks. This post will showcase my top three 2015 Met Gala beauty looks and how you can recreate these beauty looks yourself.
Glowing Skin and Bold Brows
Rihanna looked stunning in her oriental inspired yellow cape and golden embellishments. It’s only natural that her makeup was as regal as her choice in her gown. The most prominent features from her beauty look are her bold brows and radiant dewy skin. To achieve this look at home I suggest pairing your favorite foundation with Dior’s Glow Maximizing Primer. This primer will give your skin the most radiant and flawless finish, you will wonder why you were using any other primer but this. Literally a nickel sized amount is all you need.
Pro Tip:
If you find that you have more oily skin, Use this primer only on your highlight region and use a mattifying primer on your more oily regions. This will ensure your skin will look dewy and radiant all evening and keep your makeup from moving on your face as well.
To achieve Rihanna’s Brow look it’s best to use a product a little heavier to ensure you have a nice dark brow. My favorite product to use is Anastasia’s Dip Brow in Chocolate. Not only will this help to ensure a great brow shape, this waterproof brow pomade once set won’t be going anywhere, I promise. Need help on how to fill in your brows? Pro Tip:
To help ensure your brows are prominently featured, after using the Dip Brow to fill in your brow, follow up with your favorite concealer right around your brows. This will not only clean up your brow shape but, also ensure that any hair that you don’t want to be seen can be hidden away.
Sultry Eyes and Lips
My favorite Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima, definitely wanted to show us she’s no angel with her ninja inspired beauty look. To achieve this sultry ninja inspired eyes look follow these simple steps:
-
Start by using eye shadow primer to base the lids
My personal favorite is Stay Don’t Stray from Benefit
-
Next, grab a smokey eye shadow palette to do a dramatic smokey eye
I suggest using Urban Decay Smoked Palette due to the wide variety of sultry colors in this set
-
Follow up by adding lashes to accentuate this sultry eye look
I used Sephora Collection False Eyelashes in Regal
-
Tighten up this look using a liquid liner to blend the false lashes into your own
Stila’s Stay All Day waterproof liquid eyeliner in black is the liner I suggest due to ease of use
To complete this look pair it with a great sexy lip. Click here to see my tutorial on sexy bold lips. Great products to use are Bite Beauty’s Lip Pencil in Tannin or Givenchy Le Rouge in 307 to achieve these sexy dark crimson lips.
Flawless Contour
Rita Ora’s contour looks amazing with her oriental inspired look. To achieve this look I suggest using Bobbi Brown’s Stick Foundation in a shade that’s two times darker than your natural complexion. Pair this with a great maroon or marsala colored blush to really bring out your cheeks. I love using Nars Blush in Amour for this color. Not only will it look natural and blend in flawlessly with your foundation, it will also help to give your cheeks a gorgeous uplift. Lost on how to contour? China: Through The Looking Glass
Overall, These looks can be worn alone and through a combination to achieve your own inner oriental inspired beauty looks. One thing I can say about this year’s Met Gala Attendees, They each took a leap in their beauty looks to really hone in on this theme. Have you created a look of your own?
