Angela Benton talks Black Women in Tech at Essence Fest 2017

July 4th weekend I attended my first Essence Fest and New Orleans was jam packed with so much #BlackGirlMagic! Of all the celebrities, entertainers and influencers I met, I most enjoyed interviewing Angela Benton.

The 36-year-old is founder and CEO of NewMe, an accelerator that helps entrepreneurs identify strengths from their non-traditional backgrounds and leverage them in business.

Since it’s launch in 2011, hundreds of entrepreneurs have used the NewMe online platform, residential “boot-camp” accelerators, and equity portfolio to change their lives. NewMe has pioneered diversity in Silicon Valley by helping entrepreneurs raise upwards of $25MM in venture capital.

In addition to NewMe, Benton is a published author, cancer survivor and mother of three, proving that women really can do it all!

Watch the fun interview above to learn more about how Angela Benton went from teen mom to commanding the attention of Forbes, Fast Company, Business Insider and Goldman Sachs through her initiatives in tech.
