Last week the good people at DTLR and Unruly records welcomed Atlantic Records singer/ songwriter Sevyn Streeter to their headquarters for “Sevyn at 7” Dinner Meet & Greet.

Streeter, who’s real first name is Amber, has been producing hits since she burst on the scene in the all-girl group TG4 in 2002. The group got to tour with Lil’ Bow Wow and their male counterparts B2K, before the group disbanded. Not to worry as Streeter would later be picked up and asked to round out another group RichGirl. The buzz surrounding them was so hot that they were the opening act for Beyonce’s 2009 tour! In spite of the group’s popularity and fans supporting leaked songs, the group unfortunately never released a full-album.

The determined Streeter’s spirits would not be broken, rather she remained relevant in the industry by lending her pen to industry starlets like Alicia Keys, Estelle, Kelly Rowland and Brandy! Singer Chris Brown, who is also a songwriter, would take notice and take Streeter under his wing as a sort of “big-little brother,” as Streeter likes to joke.

Streeter is proud of her experiences thus far and takes nothing for granted. She understands that life is one big journey and sees her time in the girl groups as stepping stones. She has fused together the contrasting styles of each group to make her the dynamic solo act that she is today.
