Britney is a Gleek too!
Ok, I have become a total Gleek. I will go so far as to claim Glee as one of my top 5 favorite TV shows ever. (Of course, this can only be compared to the shows I’ve actively watched in my 22 years on this Earth. Cut me some slack.) I really enjoy how the performers on the show are allowed to display their voices and their talent by performing the covers of songs their way. The dancing and production is fantastic as well thanks to the powerhouse that is Fox entertainment. I hate their news broadcasts, but I love their shows! (ie. The Simpsons, Family Guy and The Cleveland Show.)
Last Tuesday (Septemeber 28,) the series aired the second episode of the second season featuring all music from the one-and-only Britney Spears. I was so excited to see what the cast had in store for us as Britney Spears has been one of my favorite music artists since “…Baby Hit Me One More Time.” The cast only helped me rekindle the love affair by performing “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Toxic,” “Stronger,” and “Me Against the Music,” her song featuring Madonna. I was very impressed by the episode, I think the performers did well with the songs, and they strangely worked well with the weeks story line and theme of building self-confidence.
You can watch it and be the judge yourself, but the video below was my favorite performance of the episode. The re-enactment is spot on– costumes, choreography, and most memorably, the sexy snack dance are all included. Actress Heather Morris as Brittany Peirce performs “Slave 4 U” in an anesthesia induced hallucination that makes her convert from a Britney hater to lover and gives her confidence to request lead parts on the club’s upcoming numbers. Check it out!
