Maybe it was just me, and the people I follow on Twitter, but this year’s labor day was certainly labor free for us common folk. The day was rather uneventful and cracking funny jokes was our biggest challenge yesterday. Lucky for us, SouljaBoy snorted and hit the keyboard to attack Fabolous last night on the site providing humor for the morning commute, and laid a nice red carpet for ladies of  the music industry to step up to the plate and show these immature rappers, it is a woman’s world after all.

Today was one of those days where everyone was on the same page in the jukebox– well, at least my timeline made it appear that way. We got a lot of new music from old favorites and the up-and-coming.

If the bird is indeed the word, little miss Willow Smith is certainly a rising star. She’s been growing in popularity in the fashion world with her chic punk rocker look and Rihanna-inspired mo-hawk hairstyle. Well today, this nine year old starlet has created a name for herself in the music industry. She has teeny boppers and grown-ups alike whipping their hair. Check out this catchy hip-hop song, “Whip My Hair,” which makes anyone want to vogue or just shake a little something in their “Diva” gear right here:

Today, I have also read opinions stating Rihanna is no longer needed thanks to her mini-me Smith! That statement, however humorous its intent, is a little hasty; but, I personally feel this Bajan beauty should just lay down the mic indefinitely, and model. Everyone loves her fashion sense (despite her not being fully responsible for even that,) and her body is phenomenal, but music… dance… entertainment period is not her strong suit. Review her summer tour’s ticket sells if you don’t believe me. Just be quite and look good. That’s pretty much where your talent lies, Ri-Ri. Anyway, I figured I might as well share her latest attempt at relevance, the world/pop/techno “Only Girl.” If nothing else, I’m happy that we are partying again and no longer attempting suicide. Let me know what you think of this song (to download the track click here):

Finally, the little white girl with the soul of Aretha Franklin and has been telling men to “Get Out” before Beyonce sent them that way <—–. R&B singer Jojo came back with a brand new mixtape. “Can’t Take That Away From Me” features 11 new tracks. I’m about to listen to it now and come back with a review. (Feel free to check back soon and often for that.) But you don’t have to wait for me to be the judge, you can listen too, just follow this link to the free download
I hope all this new music today is a pleasant preview of good things to come this fall. Great music is motivation on your iPod when trekking across campus, stuck in traffic on the way to work, and always a comfort when you’re snowed in with or without a boo.
Peace, Love, Create.
