4 Ways to Have a Healthy & Fun Valentine’s Day
Written by Ryen Watkins
Valentines Day doesn’t have to be yet another Cheat Day. Sure, one day won’t mess up your health kick too bad, but why mess it up at all? With these simple suggestions, February 14th can be fun, healthy AND sexy!
The #1 treat for Valentine’s Day is chocolate, so try opting for the healthier version. According to Authority Nutrition, dark chocolate is made from the seed of the cocoa tree, and is one of the best sources of antioxidants on the planet. Studies show that dark chocolate can improve health and lower the risk of heart disease.
Whether you’re going out for dinner with a date, or you’re at the bar with your single friends, you may be tempted to drink. I know what you’re thinking, “So you’re saying no alcohol.” Sure you can drink, just skip the mixed cocktails; i.e. mai tai’s, margaritas, daiquiris, piña coladas, etc. Mixed drinks are loaded with sugar and calories, so opt for the liquor and chaser, or just take shots!
Instead of the usual dinner and a movie, do something adventurous! The purpose of Valentine’s Day is to spend time with the one you love and show them how much you love them.
Walk to the beach, do a fun workout class, go rock climbing, or just do something different! It’ll be a great way to bond and you’ll have tons of fun.
Don’t worry ladies, and gentleman, if you don’t have a Valentine this year, be your own! Here’s a mental health tip: Skip the sad, depressing routine and cheer up! Make this day all about you, doing everything that makes you feel good and loved. Get a massage, go to the gym, go shopping, or even watch your favorite movie. Don’t worry about the relationship aspect, simply love on yourself.
