Kelly Fox & ABF : “You’re So Amazing” [VIDEO]
James “Kelly Fox!” Davis and A.B.F.
Affectionately known as “ABF”, James “Kelly Fox!” Davis and A Bunch of Friends, come from the Wash, DC metro area. Davis, who likes to be called “Kellz!”, put together the ensemble in early 2010, along with 24 other voices to help record his debut project entitled “The Best Gift”. The choir and ensemble for the recording consisted of some of Davis’ choir members from Kettering Bapt Church, in Upper Marlboro, MD, where he is the Dir of Music, along with some of his other close friends, and a few friends of some of those friends. From that, it was a no-brainer for Davis to come up with the name “A Bunch of Friends”.
The debut project boasts 10 new songs that Davis have written over the last 8 years, nine of which focus on the birth of Christ, but can minister and be played all year long. The tenth song is one of their current singles entitled “An Hour”, which is a psalm about the disciples’ failure to pray with Jesus for “An Hour” before his arrest in the garden. The CD provides new choir standards and anthems for both seasons, but will be heard ministering at all times throughout the years to come.
Davis called in several other friends to help pull the project off, which included notables like Tanya Blount and Willie Blount, and noted musicians, MoHorns, Sam Kendrick, Sean Miles, and others. Davis and ABF are currently in the studio working on their sophomore project. Davis has continued to work and minister with his established ABF. ensemble: Monique Newman, Jermal Sewel, Lauren Dew, Joy Gardner, Shauna Schwartz, Regina L. Jones, Michael Hill, and D’Angelo Coates. He also credits two original ensemble members DeeDee Roberts and Brian Bailey for helping get ABF off the ground.
“My goal is to write music that ministers to the ‘world’, but can still minister to the church, and more importantly “in” the church!” says Davis. Keep an ear out for their new single “You’re So Amazing”, which will be released June 28, 2011 on Be Natural Entertainment!
