Now, R&B newcomer Jacquees might have jumped the gun with the “King of R&B” claims, but it certainly brought out the best in the genre at a time many feared it was forgotten.

While I wouldn’t go so far as to crown the Cash Money crooner just yet, I do have to admit that Jacquees shows a clear understanding of and genuine appreciation for the genre. The Atlanta-born artist grew his following by covering greats like Stevie Wonder, Ginuwine and Dru Hill so don’t get it twisted.
