Matters-of-The-Heart-RB-Benefit-Concert-good-girl-mprynt-thebobbypenAmazingGrace Productions hosts it’s 5th Annual Matters of the Heart R&B Benefit Concert at the Howard Theatre last Thursday, Feb. 12th. The live music event, starring R&B groups Good Girl, MPrynt, violinist and vocalist Kendall Isadore and comedian Kasaun Wilson, will raise money to donate to a community organization.

This year’s beneficiary is Life Pieces to Masterpieces. The Washington, D.C. nonprofit provides mentorship and programs to African American boys and young men in the city’s at-risk areas.

R&B Group Good Girl

Good Girl brought their usual high energy and sassy-sexy appeal to the stage. They danced and harmonized to R&B hit songs from artist like Beyonce and other 90’s girl groups. It so happened that it was Bobbie’s mother’s birthday, so the group sang her a melodic, 4-part rendition of “Happy Birthday.”

Violinist & Vocalist Kendall Isadore

Kendall Isadore (@missisadorable) was the last performer, but certainly not the least. She came out with a violin as she wowed the crowed with her skillful playing and strong vocal ability. She played the violin with so much passion that the strings popped from her bow as she played. For a bit of vulnerability, she shared with the crowd that Pharrell’s “Happy” is the perfect song to describe the current phase she’s in in her personal life.

R&B Group MPRYNT

MPRYNT (@mprynt) is an all-male group, and they absolutely killed it with their in sync dance moves and perfect harmonizing. They sang covers from various artists such as Big Sean’s “IDFWU,”  Boyz II Men “I’ll Make Love to You” and Tupac “Keep Your Head Up.”

Comedian Kasaun Wilson

She greets you really nice. But the meanest lady is the meat lady because first she assumes that I want chicken just because I’m black. Yes, I want chicken but don’t just assume I want chicken. Then when she scoops the chicken, she scoops a nice full scoop, but then right before she puts it in the bowl she shakes the spoon. Then looks at you like u want something. Yes! I want all my chicken.”
