R&B is having a really great time as more vocalists hit the scene and introduce various sounds, like Detroit’s own MotorCity MYNT. The vocalist showcases a gritty-smooth sound, something like a sip of cognac, over an uptempo beat in debut single “She Bad.”

On the track, he describes his dream girl as someone who brings the table to the table. She’s fun, but she makes her own money. She’s selective with who she socializes with. She can fit in high society, but she can also throw hands if need be. She’s got a banging body, but… fuckboys need not apply.

MYNT’s sultry sound was first discovered at age 12 when he began singing. A short two years later, he went on to join a 4-man singing group called “Anotha Level.” In this group, MYNT held down the second lead vocals but really sharpened his writing skills as primary writer and producer for most of their tracks.

When you listen to “She Bad,” you can clearly hear and feel his musical influences Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye and Hall & Oates. The Motor City crooner also cites Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson, both amazing producers with magical ears to hear complex musical arrangements as further inspiration for his music.

MYNT himself describes the smash debut single:

“She Bad,” is a tribute to every woman, that grinds to get to a higher place. It speaks to the power of femininity. It’s me being the spokesman, for men like myself, in recognizing that there are plenty of qualities, that are just as appealing (sexually), as their physical attributes.

One thing MYNT wants fans to know about him is his great respect for music theory. The singer says, “I think it’s just as imperative to be a consummate student, as it pertains to music, as it is to come up with a catchy hook. I don’t pigeon hole myself to any specific genre. I am a study of many; from Sam Cooke to Ludwig Van Beethoven.”
