Lauren M. Williams, M.A., professionally known as “Bobby Pen®,” is a seasoned journalist, content creator, and media strategist dedicated to amplifying Black voices and telling compelling stories. With a career spanning almost two decades, Bobby Pen has become a trusted presence in print, digital, and broadcast media, leveraging her expertise to connect with audiences and drive meaningful engagement.
As the founding editor of TheBobbyPen.com, an award-winning lifestyle and entertainment platform that has documented Black American contributions to culture, entertainment, and business since 2010, Bobby Pen has established herself as a force in the media industry. Her work has garnered more than 10 million views and been referenced by prominent outlets such as The Washington Post, The Source, Baller Alert, and The Shade Room.
Bobby Pen’s professional journey includes serving as Digital Content Manager for Radio One, producing syndicated radio content for Hot 97, WBLS, and WLIB in New York City. Her on-camera presence has resulted in over 40 national television appearances on networks like TMZ, ESSENCE, BBC NEWS, and ABC’s 20/20, solidifying her reputation as a go-to culture commentator. She has conducted more than 500 interviews with high-profile figures, including Angela Bassett, Diddy, Cardi B, Dirk Nowitzki, and Don Lemon.
Currently, she works as a freelance reporter for REVOLT, theGrio, and HELLOBEAUTIFUL while also offering brand coaching and public relations consulting. In January 2021, she launched Put Yourself On Academy, an online course designed to teach aspiring media professionals how to build their own credible and profitable media brands.
Bobby Pen’s dedication to storytelling and community has been recognized with multiple honors. She was named D.C.’s Top 30 Under 30 Young Professionals and Blogger of the Year at the 2015 Titan Arts Awards. Additionally, she has received two Certificates of Recognition from the City of Houston, a Congressional Honor from the State of Texas, and a $3,000 grant from the Houston Mayor’s Arts Alliance COVID-19 Artist Relief Fund.
