Well, Queen Latifah is in the Holiday Spirit. In spite of last month’s announcement that her daytime talk show is canceled, she’s still in the giving mood.

While reruns will still air through March 2015, there will be no production staff on set. According to E! Online, in order to show her appreciation for their “dedication and sacrifice” during “intense challenges” she will pay the laid off staff through the holidays from her own money.

What a generous gesture!

For all you Queen Latifah fans, not to worry. She’s taking her voice and acting chops to HBO’s upcoming biopic Bessie set to air in 2015, which she is also executive producing.

The Hollywood Reporter writes:

The telepic revolves around iconic blues singer Smith as she overcomes the challenges of her tempestuous personal life to become one of the most acclaimed performers and recording artists of the 1920s and ’30s, to be known forevermore as the “Empress of the Blues.”
