The country’s current racial tension has inspired recording artist RL to show his compassionate side with a cover of Donny Hathway’s classic “Someday We’ll All Be Free.” The singer wanted to recreate the inspirational feel of the original.

RL hopes to encourage those who are hurting, angry and confused by recent events that resulted in the deaths of Mike Brown, Eric Garner, John Crawford, Jordan Davis, Ezell Ford, Tamir Rice and far too many others.

The uptempo track inspires listeners to believe in brighter days, because “someday we’ll all be free.”
