Tonight, sources announced that legendary soul singer Teena Marie had passed away at 54 years old. Immediately, I was saddened.

Just the other day Marie’s “You Make Love Like Springtime” came on the shuffle of my iPod. I was groovin’ and adding her to my list of “Artists I Must See Live.” No need to go into any more detail of how big a fan I was or anything like that– I’ll just end this post by saying, she wasn’t an old woman, and had just tweeted only a few hours before the news spread.

Life is short and this is just another reminder to love and appreciate people while they are here. Her music has impacted my life, and I pray for the strength of her family and friends.
