If you’ve been on social media at all this past week chances are you’ve seen pictures of  celebs and fashionistas alike posing at New York Fashion Week (NYFW.)  Now, with all the excitement of new fashion and beauty trends I’m sure you don’t think of technology when you see those four letters, but wearable tech is making it’s mark and doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon.

Fashion accessory powerhouse Rebecca Minkoff has been working to make wearable tech a staple in her collection and debuted some clever little items at NYFW.  She even had drones taking pictures from overhead at her runway show! As a woman and a techie I am all for this.

In a previous years Rebecca ahs debuted a notification bracelet. If you’re phone isn’t visible, simply connect it to your smartphone via Bluetooth and it can be configured to alert you silently from up to 25 VIP contacts.  No longer do you have to constantly check your phone to see if you missed that “very important” call or text. Your wrist will tell you.

Let’s say you’re in a meeting and can’t have your phone out. The bracelet gives you a buzz to let you know that you’ve got a message and that it’s from someone important (or at least someone you want to hear from.)

As a bonus, it’s super cute. Picture adding this piece to your Instagram #armparty. It doesn’t even look like technology, and that’s exactly what gives it it’s appeal. It’s multipurpose.

 

This year Rebecca debuted the iPhone 6/6s charging wallet. It’s a leather wristlet that comes in black, blue and almond. It both holds your cards and charges your phone. What’s not to love?

My personal favorite is black, and with fall coming it can be paired with just about everything.  The case is removable, but not the battery. Fully charged up, the battery is able to charge your phone up to %125. The wristlet is also removable if you choose to opt for more of a wallet style. If you’re like me and don’t have an iPhone 6/6s or if you’re team Android, she’s got something for you too. The leather crossbody bag, is a fun option with all it’s fringe detail on the front and functional compartment for your phone.
