‘Hidden Figures’ hits theaters nationwide January 6, 2017, but….

The cool thing about being a blogger is that sometimes I get perks– like attending the advance screening of ‘Hidden Figures’ weeks before its actual release. 😉 Since you guys are such loyal readers, the team gave me enough passes to bring along 20 of my DC #PenPalz to see it first too!

The book by Margot Lee Shetterly is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (portrayed Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (played Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (which Janelle Monáe portrays)—three brilliant African-American women working at NASA.

These women served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big, and now their harrowing story has made it to the big screen.
