Technology has evolved quickly in the past few years and one of the most popular gadgets right now besides cell phones are drones! We have seen them all over the internet used for many different things. Just plain fun, capturing beautiful bird eye views and creating amazing cinematography shots for content creators, movies and more.

One thing we haven’t seen are drones used on the runway! But that came to an end when Dolce and Gabbana came up with an innovative approach to bring their new collection of handbags down the catwalk this season.  During their show in Milan all guest were asked to turn off all their Wi-Fi connections prior to the shows start. Puzzled I’m sure as this is an unusual request. Eight drones came down the runway carrying a new handbag from their fall/winter collection. The leather and jewel encrusted bags were crafted so beautifully. With them being carried at a higher positon every guest in attendance was able to clearly appreciate the detail and beauty of each piece. Talk about the future of fashion! Who would have thought handbags would be floating down the runway? Personally I feel like this was a super creative way to merge technology and fashion. Both visually appealing and smart production wise. Not only did it add something new and fresh to a runway show. But it allowed for the pieces to be viewed by everyone. A lot of time during shows if you aren’t close to the runway seating wise you can’t fully grasp the craftsmanship of the pieces.  I’m sure this is a start to something great in the fashion world.

Besides the interesting start of the show, the collection sparked just as much buzz. Naming this their “Fashion Devotion” Collection it definitely made a statement. Using inspiration from Catholic influences and Victorian styles, this has to be one of my favorites collections from them thus far. Bold prints colors and corky saying made each piece a showstopper. They pushed the fashion envelope this season! The collection had the perfect balance of sophistication and youthfulness, catering to all types of women.  Well done Dolce & Gabbana!

This is going to open a lot of doors for future projects in the fashion community. I wonder what designers are going to join the technology wave?
