How to Slay SXSW Music Festival Survival Guide

As we all know music festival season is upon us and we can’t be more excited. Not only are music festivals the perfect opportunity to let your hair down and dance to your favorite songs, its also a great time to express yourself with your fashion, unapologetically!

Since SXSW is right around the corner, I thought it would be perfect to share the Ultimate Survival Guide to Slay SXSW.

Here are a few key points to note to make your music festival experience unforgettable.

Prior to arriving make sure you are checking social media and websites to see what days offer what. Mapping out your schedule according to which bands/artist will be playing will save you from a whole deal of disappointment. That way when your favorites will not be hitting the stage you can arrange other activities that will keep your momentum going.

While, music is one of the biggest things that connects us all and make us feel good, close behind is fashion!

Festivals are normally planned around good weather so take this time to take risks. Break out those shorts! Accessorize your looks in warm weather conditions, since you cant really layer clothing without overheating.

Fun colors patterns and textures are your friends at a music festival! Mix and match different trends.

Keep in mind you will be walking and the sun will be blazing so comfort should come first! Boots, Hats and Sunnies will come in handy. To remain hands free while jamming out cross body bags or fanny packs are essential. The perfect recipe for killing your look!

Cant forget about the fellas!

Nothing kills the mood faster than looking at your screen and seeing “20% remaining” on your battery. When you’re taking pics, videos, snaps and posting to IG all day your battery is bound to drop. Although there will be charging stations, there’s nothing wrong with being extra prepared. Pack a portable charger and bring extra camera batteries to ensure you capture every moment with ease.

Now that you have your schedule, outfit, and a full battery the last thing to do is go over a checklist. I live by checklist and you should too. Here are some key things you don’t want to forget:

  • Have a meeting spot with your friends
    • With the large crowd keeping up with each other can get overwhelming
  • Take a break and pace yourself
  • STAY HYDRATED
    • I cant stress this enough so make sure you bring loads of water
  • Sunscreen is your friend (and we all need protection)
  • Last but not least HAVE FUN!
    • Don’t let the stresses of everyday life join you at the festival. Sing loud and dance like no one is watching!

SXSW is on March 9-18 this year, Will you be attending? Any other festivals in your summer plans? Let us know below!
