How did you get started, and how did you get to where you are today?

I grew up moving around a lot as a military kid. I was born in Texas but then quickly moved to Virginia up until I was about the age of seven years old and which we then moved over to the West Coast finding ourselves in southern Arizona which is where I spent the majority of my development years all the way up to sophomore year of high school and which I then moved back to the DMV.

Understanding at a young age that I needed to support my family I found myself working in the tech industry by the age of 16 and then was able to quickly move into leadership by the age of 18. I then found myself surrounded by those 20, 30, even 40 years older than me. Taking in as much knowledge as I could from those around me allowed me to progress without making some of those same mistakes that they did.

I was first introduced to entrepreneurship in 2016 when I found in my first company 4K life which is now a marketing firm. Four years later I started to officially build out my second company Generation Typo which had its first launch in March of this year.

From there it’s just been the grind of managing two companies while still progressing with some of the largest companies in the tech industry.”

Challenges and Obstacles

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of your struggles along the way?

The road has been far from smooth. However, I learned from every bump along the way. From building multi-million dollar tech strategies to spending weeks designing a companies brand identity… Just to get it wrong. Every setback taught me a valuable lesson and made me even stronger than before. Another example is most recently going through 30-40 different materials to get that right feel on the garments for Generation Typo. Even after getting the right design and manufacturing, we ran into issues with customs holding our items for over a month. If I didn’t look at each struggle as a learning opportunity I probably would’ve quit by now.

About Your Product

What do you do? What are you most proud of? What sets you apart?

Generation Typo is a clothing brand focused on creating dialog between generations, and recognizing those who are willing to share those conversations. We fearlessly challenge the difference of opinions and values between different generations. Providing apparel and items that spark these conversations, and building a community that allows everyone to have a voice.

Established as an apparel brand and symbol to showcase the acceptance of generational differences. From the Baby Boomer Generation to our newest Gen Z’s, the previous generation often believes that the next is doing “it” wrong. Our Branding includes a red underline that we have all been conditioned to associate this line with an error or “typo”. We utilize this throughout our brand to highlight those projected typos or opinions.

We are not afraid to shine light on these differences, and as we grow we want to provide platforms for those who are willing, to share their truths. We believe in order for the world to progressively grow, and remove the negativity around being different we must start with simply talking about it.

Many of us have been impacted and or traumatized by these differences; Racism, Ageism, Homophobia, Sexism, Religion, and much more. It is time we take the power back and really work to understand everyone and anyone.
