Kevin Ross on Walking Away from Motown, Indie Music Strategy, Audacity Vol. 2 + Sings Live [VIDEO]
Singer, songwriter, and producer Kevin Ross released the second installment of his sophomore album, “Audacity” with a special EP.
In a candid one-on-one with Bobby Pen on Instagram Live, Kevin Ross offered a masterclass to learning the music business. He discussed walking away from Motown to grow his own independent label and the strategy he uses to market and promote his new music with a distribution deal with EMPIRE. Plus, he SINGS “God Is a Genius” a capella!
Did you know he got his first writing placement with Jamie Foxx?! In the live interview, Ross revealed his songwriter alter-ego named, EGO. In slight contrast, “EGO is savage,” Ross said.
Kevin Ross’ “Audacity Vol. 2” includes six brand new, original songs and a cover of Jeff Buckley’s 1998 classic “Everybody Here Wants You” with Bermudian songbird, Canjelae. The first offering from Kevin Ross’ latest project, “GOD Is a Genius” was released in May and has reached over one million streams across all streaming platforms.
Fans and music enthusiasts have dubbed Ross the “MASHUP King” due to his signature social media content style. He has created a new live talk show, “The Mash|Up Show” as an extension of his signature viral brand that has amassed nearly 50 million views online. Every Monday via Facebook Live, Ross interviews his industry friends and puts other singers on the spot to complete a collaborative mashup with him LIVE! R&B legend Avant, Sonna Rele, Adrian Marcell, Amina Buddafly are pasts guests who nailed it.
