Grammy-Award winning musician Miguel, “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin and a host of other celebrities, public officials and wealthy donors attended the Precious Dreams Foundation Fundraising Gala⁣ and Silent Auction Wednesday (Oct. 16) in effort to provide comfort to children in need.

The evening of joy and celebration was staged at Marquee NYC to bring together likeminded individuals to contribute to the efforts of co-founders Nicole Russell and her mother Angie Medina. The two established Precious Dreams Foundation in 2012 to support the well being of foster and homeless children by using comfort bags filled with bedtime necessities and positive reinforcement to empower children to recognize and focus on their dreams. Precious Dreams Foundation already serves children in all 5 boroughs in New York, but has also expanded to S. Flordia, Baltimore, Los Angeles and will soon add Chicago to their list of chapter cities.

Already this year, Nicole and her board of trustees have worked provide as many youths as possible with brand new pajamas, books, blankets, journals, teddy bears and other tools for self-comfort. 100 percent of proceeds go directly to youth and children who need it most. The evening raised another stunning sum of $150,000 with donations and generous bids on auction items such as a signed NFL Football, original street art, champagne baskets, and a designer handbag.

Sunny Hostin, who is gearing up for a new true crime show “Truth About Murder,” focusing on the lives of the victims rather than the traditional focus on the mind of the criminal, hosted the evening. Her passionate spirit is felt daily on popular daytime talk show “The View,” but it was nice to a softer side of Sunny as she reflected on her own two sons and how even as teenagers they still need their mommy for nighttime comfort.

Miguel was a special guest speaker who spoke on his experience as a child of divorce. “What this does is give belief to people who do not have the default support system that they should,” he said. “Let us all celebrate the belief of dreams and helping each other out.” visiting the concentration camps where immigrant children who were separated from their families were being held. The “Adorn” singer credits his parents and upbringing for his success and thanked Nicole for her efforts to provided that same support for foster children and youth in transition.

Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Social Services, Annabel Palma, was honored with a special presentation as well.

R&B artists Ro James, Elle Varner, and over 50 donors also enjoyed passed hors devours, specialty tequila cocktails named to inspire and a dance party featuring diverse music by a live DJ.
