Successfully navigate Spring/Summer formal events with these 4 beauty hacks

As prom and wedding season approaches, finding the perfect dress isn’t your only problem. Trust me I know. Using my beauty hacks below will definitely ease your worries about your beauty look. You’ll also buy more time to find that dream gown. Thank me later 🙂

Nails

The last thing you want to worry about is a snagged nail either chipping or tearing at your tights. My beauty hack is actually Krazy Glue and no I am not crazy. I like to use the Krazy Glue with the brush on applicator tip. It helps to give me more control. Take a small pin sized amount and brush it on the chipped or snagged area. Allow one minute for the crazy glue to dry, then you are set to dance the night away. If you feel Krazy Glue is a bit extreme, you can substitute with a clear nail top coat. The clear top coat is not as durable as crazy glue but, since it does have a softer hold this can also be use to prevent runs in panty hose or tights. Just remember you can not use crazy glue to stop a run.

 Lips

In most formal event settings, there will be a photographer snapping candids of guests all night. To avoid being that girl with the faded lip color in your next picture, dab a little setting powder on your lips after applying your lip color. Bonus perk, if you use a mattifying setting powder it will also waterproof your lip color. Just remember this beauty hack will not work for glossy lips.

This hack has saved me money and left me looking flawless for many formal events. Now, if you have an oily/combination face type this hack is for you. All you need is a little Milk of Magnesia. This product used to treat upset stomach and heartburn, can also be used as a mattifying primer. I like to take a nickel sized amount and place it all over my face.

However, if you feel you are oily in certain areas, just use this product in the areas you feel most oily. It will leave a slight grey cast on the skin which is normal. Once the foundation has been laid on top of this product, expect matte, flawless skin all night.

My last facial beauty hack is probably already in your medicine cabinet. Aspirin. Yup that little pill you take to treat your headaches can also be used to prevent acne breakouts as well. Just grab these ingredients:

  • Five uncoated aspirin pill (or two packets of BC powder)
  • Two tablespoons of lukewarm water
  • (optional) one serving size of unflavored greek yougurt

What I like to do first is to crush each pill up one by one in a bowl. Once all five pills have been crushed begin adding the lukewarm water until you have a nice paste like consistency. Apply a thin layer all over the face and allow it to completely dry. Once dried completely gently dry rub the mask off the face. If you prefer a method that’s a little more soothing, add in the greek yougurt. Not only will it be easier to remove but, it will also leave your skin feeling baby soft. The aspirin has similar qualities like salicylic acid, so it cleans and exfoliates your pores just as well as any over the counter acne treatment. Just be sure to do a spot test in a inconspicuous area to ensure you are not allergic to aspirin as a topical treatment. Use this mask a day or two before the formal event to ensure best results.
