5 Brunch Spots to Visit in Maryland
While visiting another state, you as a tourist, not only look for popular attractions to visit or where to club on a Saturday night, but you also search where to eat. Especially if you wake up too late for breakfast. If you’ve every woken up thinking “I’m too tired to get up for breakfast, but it’s too early for dinner.” welcome to the happy medium: brunch.
You just can’t go wrong with brunch. You have your choice of steak and eggs, flavored pancakes, shrimp and grits– and this is just to name a few. Many restaurants offer a good mix often times paired with bottomless mimosas (new drinkers: it’s orange juice and champagne). Of course you could order apple juice, grapefruit juice or plain ole OJ for the non-drinkers. The next time you happen to stop though Maryland (between Baltimore and DC specifically) you should check out a few creative and and more traditional brunch spots in the area.
Not only is the restaurant in the newly renovated Downtown Silver Spring area, it is an attraction in and of itself once you step inside. The feel is like that of a cabin in the mountains of Maryland. The paintings, exposed brick walls and even the fireplace has a way of making you feel like you’re right at home. Opt out of the typical dine-in experience, and take a seat at the bar where you’ll find four flat screens directly in front of you while you enjoy your brunch. For the egg lover in you, try the California Dreaming. It’s the perfect brunch with salmon, asparagus and sautéed spinach beneath two poached eggs. Pair that with a Tropical Teaser and your brunch experience will surely be one to remember. There are also the Great Eggspectation signature plates including everything over easy traditional breakfast staples like their Good Morning Pancake dishes or Omelettes Eggcentra varieties. You definitely have a pretty extensive selection to choose from.

The Fells Point location and only location in Baltimore is tucked away on a strip with the likes of row homes and other small businesses. When you arrive to dine, you almost believe you’re in the wrong area because of how the business resembles a two bedroom home in the Baltimore area, or any other major city. But some of the most unusual and non-traditional “mom and pop” restaurants have the most delicious food hence there’s always at least a 20-30 minute wait at Blue Moon. Seating no more than 50-75 people, the Fells Point diner with pancake house prices will have you wanting more. The world famous French toast dipped in Cap’n Crunch cereal and topped with whipped cream is enough to make you hire a personal trainer because that will not be your last time visiting.
Get your $30 and your taste buds ready for bottomless mimosas and unlimited brunch because Yellowfin has not only an amazing selection of foods (sushi, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, roast beef, French toast), it has an even more amazing view on South River. As you dine at the eatery located on Donovans pier in Annapolis, you can achieve views boats docked at the pier, families taking a cruise on the water, and warm sunlight (depending on the weather) as you sip your bottomless mimosas or drink of choice. No matter where you’re seated in the restaurant, you’re destined to get great views and have unlimited choices of food. Just make sure you have your appetite and sunglasses ready.
Unless you are traveling or live in the Baltimore area, Miss Shirley’s in Annapolis is the perfect go to location. Of course you have to get there at a reasonable time because this restaurant, like Blue Moon, will have you waiting anywhere from 30 minutes to sometimes hour and 45 minute waits. Waking up your taste buds with the cinnamon flavored monkey bread down to one of the most famous dishes on the menu, the chicken and waffles. The cafe definitely needs to bring back a french toast special that was on the menu a year or two ago. Three fluffy waffles that tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

The American restaurant located just steps from the Baltimore Inner Harbor East won’t offer you bottomless mimosas or over the top pancake and waffle meals but you are able to experience meals turkey creeps, hummus plates and even chicken salad croissants just to name a few. After your meal, walk over to the pier and get the scenic view of the harbor. Don’t forget to try their cheese grits, one of the best sides on the menu or a Nutella Mocha Latte with a bacon garnish if your feeling daring.
