About Your Hustle

Business / Project Name

Books entitled ‘Give It One More Try‘ and ‘Why Happiness is the Way to Go

How did you get started, and how did you get to where you are today?

I am a Baltimore, Maryland native who began my career as an entertainer, producer, and entrepreneur from as young as 12 years of age. With the help of my mother, I was first discovered by Brian Dickens, which led me to singer Stacy Lattisaw’s younger brother Jerome Lattisaw. Their demo landed in the hands of the CEO of University Entertainment, Haqq Islam,
as a member of the music group Majusty. The group was later named Prophet Jones. My music group landed a major recording contract with Universal/Interscope Records. Due to changes at the record label, Prophet Jones later moved to the legendary Motown Records with the assistance of Haqq Islam and Russell Simmons, founder of Def Jam Records.

After Prophet Jones signed their contract with Motown Records, I co-wrote half of the self-titled album Prophet Jones which became a classic soul release. The group worked with Tricky Stewart who produced hits for Rihanna and Beyonce, Jamie Foxx’s soundtrack for action comedy film Bait, and Soul Train with Shemar Moore, Master P, and Christina Milian.
During my career, I made headlines appearing on MTV2 and BET’s 106th & Park with host AJ and Free. I also obtained press placements in Vibe, Billboard, Sister 2 Sister, Seventeen magazines, appeared on Wendy Williams’ radio show, and appeared BET’s game show “On
the Beat” in 2001 with DJ LaLa Anthony- wife of NBA Star and Baltimore native Carmelo Anthony.

Challenges and Obstacles

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of your struggles along the way?

I encountered different experiences while working as a national recording artiste. I also suffered from anxiety disorders after losing a record label deal for my second album in 2002. The panic attacks and other difficulties continued for years before I improved my way of living.
