How did you get started, and how did you get to where you are today?

I started writing in 2010. However, I started my publishing company in 2013 because I saw things in traditional publishing that I didn’t like. In 2017 I started investing more into my writing because I wanted to write full time. Since that time I had so many people ask me how to write a book and be successful. I saw so many people write the book but stop there. I wanted to show people how to show up for their book.

During the pandemic when many people lost their jobs I knew it was the right time to launch my mentoring program showing people how to create passive income with writing. My mentoring program, Building a Business from the Pen, focuses on not only writing a book but everything else involved. This includes how to sell, market your book, the legal do’s and don’ts of self publishing and how to make you book a real stream of income.

Challenges and Obstacles

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of your struggles along the way?

It has not been a smooth road road. I’ve been doing this for 10 years and at the beginning my mindset wasn’t in the right place. I initially focused on why people who I thought should support me didn’t support me. Once I realized that they were not my target audience and the people who need what I offer are going to be the target customer business started to flow.

What do you do? What are you most proud of and what sets you apart?

I am the queen of books and writing. My specialty is helping authors get out of their own way. I teach them how to make their book a business. I am most proud of the authors I’ve helped along the way. Seeing them from start to fruition is so rewarding. My transparency sets me apart from others. I’m honest with my clients about the mistakes I’ve made along the way and teach them what I wish I had known from the start.
