Meet Young Fresh from Columbia South Carolina who is a recording artist and rapper.
About Your Hustle
Project Name
I’m currently finishing up my EP called “Carolina Dreams,” and another project called “Love Me Like the ’80s & ’90s.” My current radio single from Carolina Dreams is called “I Gotta Crush pt. 2″ and features Kirko Bangz & Tiffany Evans.
How did you get started, and how did you get to where you are today?
I’m from Columbia, South Carolina– the state’s capital. I was raised by a single mother as an only child. Part of my motivation derives from the hard work my mother put in all my life. My father wasn’t in the picture often. Although I made several attempts to rekindle the relationship, my father never came through. Unfortunately, my father passed away in 2019.
As a child, my musical inspiration came from the late great Michael Jackson, Lil Wayne, Drake, J. Cole, Missy Elliot, and Ludacris. Discovering my love for music at a young age, I eventually began getting serious about pursuing a music career in 2006 and began recording in the studio. I started in a group with my childhood best friend but soon realized I wanted to take the solo route.
After spending a lot of time recording, I finally released my debut mixtape, “Road to Fame Vol. 1”. I kept working to perfect his craft and grow my fan base which led to collaborating with major artists, including Kirko Bangz, Tiffany Evans, and Chyna White.
After releasing new music consistently, I released my first radio single, “I Gotta Crush Pt 1”. It received rave reviews that encouraged me to follow the single up with, “I Gotta Crush Pt 2”, featuring Kirko Bangz and Tiffany Evans. The single is currently standing with over 26,000 plays and I couldn’t be more proud.
While I’m enjoying the success of my latest single, I’m still working on my upcoming projects, “Carolina Dreams” and “Love Me Like The 80s and 90s”.
Challenges and Obstacles
Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of your struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Especially being a fully independent artist it takes so much money and sometimes you have to balance things. Sometimes you will have to take risks with certain things and hold off on bills. It’s been hard. I have been investing in myself for a while. I would say another struggle along the way was trying to network with DJs. Sometimes it seems like you have to earn the respect of DJs and a lot of people in the industry to take you seriously. So I would just keep the good music coming and keep investing in myself and let the music speak for itself and just keep going and never accept “no.”
About Your Product / Service
What do you do? What are you most proud of? What sets you apart?
I would describe my musical style as hip hop/R&B, with a bit of trap soul. My hard work, consistency, and music influences give me an edge over other rappers today.
