He was also a finalist on season 20 of America’s Next Top Model, where he says Tyra Banks taught him how to improve his posture.
In his new book “My Truth”, Benjamin opens up about his journey through success and his personal relationships in hopes of helping men grow mentally and emotionally. “Men don’t tap into it [vulnerability] enough” Don Benjamin replied, when asked how often do guys tap into their vulnerability. Because of this, Benjamin states he had to separate himself from his inner circle to take time to work on himself as a man.
Don Benjamin shares his own personal experiences with dealing with abandonment issues from an absent father, and traumas he’s faced as a child. Benjamin also reflects on his past public relationship, and how criticism helped him want to go harder in his career.
It wasn’t until three years ago, after the loss of his father that made him change the way he viewed life. In between his father’s passing and his relationship failing, Don Benjamin believed he has truly hit rock bottom. “You can’t get married to somebody until you’re whole yourself.” Don Benjamin shares how he and former girlfriend Liane Valenzuela had plans to get married but decided not to go forward with their wedding due to self growth needed for both parties.
Here, Benjamin even breaks down how he uses his multiple talents to become a brand in the entertainment industry. Stating he’s been able to leverage his modeling skills to gain musical and acting opportunities, making him more than just a model but an asset.
