How did you get started, and how did you get to where you are today?

I started singing at the tender age of 7 years old in church choirs. And I remember distinctively watching the Bet Awards listening to Mariah Carey sing and perform. At that moment I said God I want to do what she is I doing I want to be a singer. And I believed from that day forward the seed was planted in my heart to sing. I started singing in trio groups with my friends but they never worked out quite perfectly. So after my last failed attempt to sing in a group ” I told myself I would never put my DREAMS in someone else’s hands”. Around age 27 I started performing professionally on my own. I begin building my brand and name quietly until I was ready to give what I had to the world. When I turned 31 I released my first Ep and single “Melodramatic. Ever since I stepped out on faith and trusted my own Dreams and Vision. Everything has been working out well. I published all my songs and intellectual property myself thru BMI and Tunecore. As a result of my thirst to perform I started a non- profit called BE YOU PRESENTS and its purpose is to give performance and artist development to a young upcoming artist and well as giving myself an opportunity to be able to perform once every month. I realized as I continued to open doors and give opportunities to others God was preparing me as well to be positioned exactly where he wanted me to be. As a result of COVID-19, everything is in reset mode. I plan on resetting everything in alignment with my purpose according to God’ s will.

Challenges and Obstacles

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of your struggles along the way?

Man, it’s been rough! My city New Orleans is filled with extremely talented singers, artist, dancers and everything that could exist as greatness so yes it has been very hard to bleed through the congestion. The one thing I can say is because of the friction I have experienced it has made me stronger against the drama and viciousness that comes along with pursuing a career in entertainment. The one thing that I really hate about it all some singers can be very destructive to your self-esteem especially if they see you have minimal flaws in your vocal abilities and I believe all that is strategic to get you off course because they are intimated by your ability to “THRIVE” NEVERTHELESS I always keep my head up and I pray to God very hard about my dreams and visions always asking for protection so that I can be exactly what he says I can be MORE THAN A CONQUEROR .

What do you do? What are you most proud of? What sets you apart?

As an Artist/Singer my style of music is Neo- Soul/RnB. It is very unique to my style because you can hear alot of Rhythm and Blues in my tone but also you can hear the Neo- Soul melodies very drawn out and long. My music also has a touch of hip-hop giving it that rhythm. I am very proud of how I have released better and better music each time I released a single. My latest single X’s n O’s is very vibey it slaps. I think it is only the beginning of the music that is to come from me. What sets me apart from ANYONE else pursuing this very simply being myself. ”

I WAS POSED THIS QUESTION ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO FROM MY MENTOR MOMMA NAT SHE SAID I QUOTE ” WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM A ROOM FULL OF SINGERS?” WHAT WILL CAUSE THEM TO CHOOSE YOU AND NOT SOMEONE WHO HAS A BANGING BODY, A BETTER VOICE, AND A BETTER LOOK?” I said this simply “BEING MYSELF GOD HAS ONLY CREATED ONE PIEATRIA THAT’S WHAT WILL SET ME APART IAM UNIQUE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO MY FINGERTIPS”.
